Palword’s PvP arena is coming this year with 3v3 action Pal battles-

Creature collecting and survival crafting game Palworld took the internet, and my own nightly gaming time, totally hostage at the beginning of this year. People like the Pals, and not least because it was a Pokémon-inspired open world game. Now officially on the list of other Pokémon-derived features is a Pal Arena that Pocketpair revealed exactly 10 seconds of footage for during today’s Triple I Initiative showcase.

This was already a known feature, appearing on the Palworld early access roadmap as “Pal Arena (PvP for Pals).” It’s no surprise that folks are hollering for a head to head mode in a creature collecting game and the comparisons to Pokémon Colosseum will abound, I’m sure.

In those scant seconds of footage you can see two players facing…

No Man’s Sky’s next major update adds new ships and spooky corrupted planets-

No Man’s Sky is getting a new update, a mere month and a bit after it got its last one. The 4.2 Interceptor patch, which releases today, brings new enemies, new resources, and a new starship class, which Hello Games says is No Man’s Sky’s “most varied starship to date”. It also makes a few performance and visual tweaks, especially for users in VR.

The update introduces new “corrupted planets,” which have fallen prey to “a darkness” that is spreading through the Sentinel horde. “Many fortified worlds have succumbed to corruption, with strange crystals sprouting from the earth and their robot guardians twisted into bizarre new forms,” reads the Interceptor update’s announcement, inviting you to “explore these purple-hazed worlds to find new buildings, crashed interceptors, secret eq…

Remnant 2 attracts twice as many players as the first game-

Things are looking good for Remnant 2, with Gunfire Games’ co-op soulslike shooter sequel already doubling the peak concurrent user record of the first game. With a SteamDB peak concurrent count of 109,053 players, more than twice the 48,289 players that Remnant: From the Ashes had online at one time back on its August 2019 release.

As spotted by Eurogamer, that means Remnant 2’s launch weekend has peaked higher than recent big-budget AAA titles like Resident Evil Village and Battlefield 2042.

It’s a ringing endorsement for Remnant, a game that takes the soulslike genre and blends it with a third person shooting and looting formula not entirely unlike Destiny, but sets it in a world and gives it a rhythm entirely unlike Destiny. Some players have encountered bugs ra…

Activision removes Nickmercs’ Call of Duty skin over anti-LGBTQ+ tweet-

Activision has removed the Nickmercs skin from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, following an anti-LGBTQ+ comment the streamer made earlier this week.

On June 7, retired Halo pro and MLG executive Chris Puckett tweeted a video of an attack on pro-LGBTQ+ demonstrators outside of a school board meeting in Glendale, CA.

“This happened 4 blocks from my Overwatch League apartment,” Puckett tweeted. “Americans are in a sad place right now. Let people love who they love and live your own life.”

In response, Nickmercs tweeted, “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.”

As noted by Dexerto, the tweet sparked an immediate backlash. “Who is this they and what terrible act is everyone afraid of?” Puckett replied. “I think/hope the goal of most …

These hefty RTX 4070 Ti and RX 7900 XT graphics card deals are asking one key question- Do you want more memory or ray-traced gaming performance–

What we have here are two graphics cards that were meant to retail for $899 when they launched. And, honestly, that was a laughable price for both GPUs. The Radeon RX 7900 XT is the second-tier RDNA 3 card, coming in just $100 below the top card in the chiplet GPU stack, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but with a 10% dip in gaming performance.

If you were spending that much cash, you’d always kick yourself for not spending that little bit more on the clearly superior card. Thankfully that performance delta has only grown, and now you can pick up the RX 7900 XT for $699.99 at Newegg that makes it a far more tempting proposition.

The cheapest RX 7900 XTX I can find is $920, which means you’re spending 24% less cash on an RX 7900 XT for 90% of the gaming performance of the top card. Th…

The Walking Dead- Betrayal is a game about avoiding zombie hordes and murdering your fellow survivors-

The team behind the snowbound survival-and-murder game Project Winter is turning its talents to the zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead: Betrayal, a new game in which players must work together to complete objectives, avoid the undead, and ferret out the “traitors” who for some reason are trying to get everyone killed.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal is a third-person action game for up to eight players, who find themselves stuck in the rural backwaters of Canada with no resources and a herd of walkers—The Walking Dead’s term for zombies—bearing down on them. The only way to escape is to work together to scavenge resources, cook food, craft weapons, and otherwise stay ahead of the relentless shambling hordes pursuing them. Proximity chat will encourage players to stick to…

The Witcher 3 unwittingly added a mod called ‘Vaginas for Everyone’ after another chaotic modder snuck it in-

One of the year’s most unusual stories thus far has been the Witcher 3’s spiffy next-generation update not only polishing the game to a mirror sheen, but adding detailed vagina models to a select group of monsters. Four characters suddenly found themselves in possession of anatomically accurate nether regions (The Crones of Crookback Bog, who look more like Victoria’s Secret models than crones, and the vampire-like bruxae) and the weirder element was that, initially at least, the game’s developer CD Projket Red didn’t seem to know why.

When first reporting on this, PCG’s Josh Wolens speculated on a likely cause: The various community made mods that CDPR integrated into the new version of the game. Looks like that was on the money, because CDPR has now confirmed in a statement t…

Today’s Wordle answer for Friday, May 24-

Take a look at our clue for today’s Wordle, written to give your guesses a helpful nudge towards the answer while still leaving all the fun bits to you. If you prefer, you can click your way through to the solution to the May 24 (1070) Wordle if you need to—it’s better than losing your hard-won win streak, after all.

The vast, vast quantities of grey letters filling up the first few rows of my Wordle guesses did all the heavy lifting this Friday morning. It’s always a little shocking to see an unimpressive (and slightly worrying) spread of grey and yellow boxes suddenly turn solid green, but it never gets old.

Wordle today: A hint for Friday, May 24

The inevitable Half-Life 2 RTX remix is being made without Valve-

You can’t tell me that as soon as Portal got the full path tracing experience you weren’t sitting there jonesing for them to do the same thing with Half-Life 2. We all want it, and Nvidia has been working with, what it’s calling four of the HL2 mod community’s “top mod teams,” to make it happen. It’s called, obviously Half-Life 2: RTX.

But while Valve is aware of this Nvidia-backed project, the company behind one of the greatest PC games ever made has no formal involvement. Though, to be fair, that might actually mean it gets a release this side of the next ice age, such is the laggardly power of ‘Valve Time’.

It must be said, however, that development has only just kicked off, with the current four mod teams—now going by the sobriquet, Orbifold Studios—actively …

This guy’s tech mandalas are giving me an ontological crisis-

Prepare to be mesmerised by the beauty of technological mandalas. These intricate and oh-so-delicate artworks by Leonardo Ulian are born of a marriage between tech and art, and the artist’s fascination with this idea that technology has become so important to us that it’s “almost something to worship.”

Ulian’s work ties wires, batteries, resistors, and other tiny components into incredible, vast webs that seem to move when you inspect them closer (via Designboom).

There’s a big focus on the fact that these are parts that are often hidden to us—unless you’re into the whole transparent casing thing, of course. In bringing them to the forefront, and in such a fascinating way, Ulain’s work feels pretty impactful to me.

I remember how good it felt going fr…
